1940 Ford Street Rod Radiator (Model 01A)

1940 solid core drawn tank street rod

Regular price $1,149.00

This radiator utilizes a drawn tank to reduce cost.

Images reflect past builds and illustrate various elements of design.  The radiator you order will be constructed based on the information you provide for your bespoke build.  Due to the prominent position of the radiator tank we prefer to hand fabricate each tank with ribs to replicate the OE design.  The street rod build can save money with a deep drawn tank so we offer this tank alternative.  For the more authentic looking radiator, order the reproduction.

1940 passenger car, regardless of model, has the filler at an angle and a split core.
There will always be "91A" stamped in the top tank. Some time around March, 1940, Ford began outsourcing some of the radiator manufacturing. At that time, the "91A' was stamped in the upper tank as well as other identifying markings that indicated the supplier to Ford. The radiators manufactured by Ford had "B1" stamped in them as well as either the letter "D" (Dearborn plant) or the letter "G" (Green Island plant). Radiators supplied by Modine had "B2" stamped in them and those supplied by McCord, had "B3".

Our longstanding foundry (supplier) closed and all production was shifted to a neighboring foundry.  Apparently many of the closed foundry's workers were ineligible for rehire by the new foundry due to more aggressive immigration enforcement and the union has no employees to provide.  As of 2-20-25, we should receive castings in March 2025 and can resume production then.

In the interim, we have been working with our one-off foundry to have pattern boxes made and these are trickling in in smaller batches and we will produce what we can.

Model As 5-6 weeks

We appreciate your patience as we continue to recruit and train new fabricators and manage the labor shortfall our country has been experiencing.
